11/19/2006: "UK Private Investigator Blog - "Finding People""
Hi,
Do you like the new website design? I updated it last week! I've also added a one-minue audio introduction, so you can all hear my sexy scottish accent
lol I'm only two steps away from being the next Sean Connery, right?????
I'm going to cover some basic things you can do yourself to find missing persons. They will often help an investigator like me find a missing person, as they all build up the information you can supply me with.
Don't worry, they're all pretty simple strategies and are best done by a family member/known friend rather than an investigator.
1) Phone up a relative of the missing person and ask where they might be. Obviously this is better done by you rathe rthan an investigator as the relative will know of you and will supply the information quicker. Usually if I can't find the missing person in my investigatons I'll attempt to find any of their relatives you know of free of charge.
2) Visit their local "hang out" spots. This could be their favorite bar, the restaurant they usually go on their lunchbreak etc. Usually thi is a really good way to "bump" into someone that still lives locally but has moved home. You'll have to do it more than once though, as they're never there the first time! So it is a bit time consuming.
3) I wouldn't put an ad in the local paper. There's only a few legal cases that I would reccommend this for, as you have to show to a judge "proof" of searching for them (of which my report would play a large part). For most people searches, the advert in the local paper won't produce any leads and will cost you money. Just to get a single lead may require you to run an advert every day for a month!
I'm more than happy to help you search for missing persons, I have access to all sorts of specialist databases, public records and techniques.
