01/21/2007: "UK Private Investigator Blog - "Corrupt P.I.s Caught!""
The times newspaper published an article on January 18th about a company hiring corrupt investigators to break the law and gather information a competitor.
"A multimillionaire was jailed yesterday after hiring corrupt private detectives to tap telephone conversations and hack into computers."
Apparently he paid the P.I.s £47,000 to investigate how his competitors would dispose of toxic waste. Several other top-level executives in the company were also punished in court for charges relating to that one.
That's bad news for private investigators like me who operate 100% within the law, as it gives our industry bad press. I can't beleive anyone would do this, as it is soo obviously illegal. If you want an honest opinion about the legalities of obtaining information through a private investigator you can email me or any other PI who is a member of professional associations that ensure all members behave legally. The World Association of Professional Investigators (WAPI), The Association of British Investigators (ABI) or the Scottish Investigators Forum (SIF) would all give you honest opinions of how to legally investigate a case or warn you that obtaining such information would be illegal.
Thanks,
Andy
